On creativity and project management
Prof David Gauntlett always seems to find the most useful and interesting stuff. Today was no exception with a share of this brilliant paper Creativity and project management: a comic by Phil Jones and James Evans.
Using storytelling, cartoons and photos the paper documents a personal journey through a social research project, reflecting on things that had to shift, change and develop. The highs and lows and all the on-the-job aspects of research that often aren’t shared from project to project.
Also, it’s the only peer reviewed article I’ve ever read to celebrate the phrase ‘half arsed’. For that alone it’s got to win my paper of the year.
The ‘Island of Research’ is by Harburg, Ernest. (1966). Research Map. American Scientist, 54, 470. And described in more detail here
Thanks for the mention, and the nice post, Petra.
